Case 457

One of the main challenges I have found with teaching Lighting Design to students, was that the students didn't get to watch a rehearsal to help them visualize the blocking. Videotaping a rehearsal was a great idea to combat this, but it's illegal if one doesn't own the rights for such activities.

I also wanted short plays for my beginning lighting students' to start with so they had no excuse to not read the play multiple times.

To this end, I have written three plays at present: Foxhole, Case 457 and A Night for Conversation.

Case 457 is a short (10-14 minute) comedy. I don't want to give a more descriptive synopsis or concept, as my hope is that students came come up with that on their own. Foxhole is available as an "Example" play. Extremely short, I have supplied an example Lighting Concept Paper, Color Key, Rough Plot, and Light Plot.

I've made these plays available for other Theatre faculty members to use for projects as well - I hope you find them useful. All I ask is that you give me proper credit; and I would greatly appreciate hearing how you find the plays work for your purposes!
